FASB 157
This an abbreviation for Financial Accounting Standards Board. Its statement requires all publicly-traded companies in the United States to classify their assets. It helps investors and regulators to understand how accurate a company's asset estimates are. There are three levels of assets: the first level is the easiest one to be estimated and the third level is the most difficult.
