GAP AMOUNT
Portion of a leased item’s worth not covered by insurance in case of a total loss due to accident or theft. Its computation is based on the lease term’s early termination payoff provision. Insurance will only shoulder a specific amount in such instances. Oftentimes, there is a difference between the amount the insurance company covers and the vehicle owed under the lease agreement for the way such agreements are structured.
