GENERAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE LEVERAGE
Variable within a cost benefit analysis of an acquisition in which the possible reduction in the overall general and administrative costs of the combined firm are taken into the account. Through synergies and cost-saving programs, the general and administrative expenses of the combined firm often will be considerably less than the total costs of two independent firms. All else is equal, the more the possible savings, the more appealing the acquisition becomes.
