GILT-EDGED BOND
Bond issued by the UK government at set interest rate and maturity. It may also pertain to a quality fixed income investment issue from blue chip companies or highly credit-worthy government or agency. In essence, it is meant to impart the impression these high-quality bonds have small default risk. May be also called gilts.
