GOING PRIVATE
Transaction or series of transactions shifting a publicly traded company into a private entity. Once private, the shareholders can no longer trade their stocks in the open market. Normally, private equity firms acquire a struggling company, change it into a private entity, rearrange capital structure, and issue shares once a profit can be earned.
