GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY OFFICE - GAO
Independent, nonpartisan department monitoring and auditing government expenditures. Frequently called congressional watchdog, it trails how legislative and executive branches utilize taxes and reports the findings directly to the US congress. GAO head is the Comptroller General, which holds the position for 15 years.
