GREEN SHOOTS
Term, coined by British politician Norman Lamont, describing signs of economic growth or positive data during a recession. It is a reference to plant growth and recovery, and has been used during economic downturn to show signs of similar growth. Rise in consumer spending, home purchases, or manufacturing activity are some of the things considered green shoots.
