GULF OPPORTUNITY ZONE
Special bundle of federal income tax credits and deductions made available to businesses opened after the Hurricane Katrina Disaster in August 2005. Businesses must meet several criteria/requirements in order to file for tax credits and deductions. The subsidy aims to encourage economic recovery and growth across the region affected by the disaster. Golf courses, liquor stores, massage parlors, and other types of businesses are not included.
