INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR
Self-employed taxpayer that renders some services to a second party called principal or a third party on behalf of the client. This individual regulates his or her own employment circumstances including when and how work is done and does not have a fiduciary duty. They are not considered employees and must pay their own Social Security tax. The employer can categorize every worker as either an employee or an independent contractor.
