INNOCENT PURCHASER FOR VALUE
An individual who purchases an asset that is involved in fraud or some other crime. This can exist in numerous situations, from buying real estate to artworks. Because the buyer has no knowledge about the crime or fraud, he or she may have the legal right to keep the property. Recovering such property by the original owner is subject to a statute of limitations.
