INTERNATIONAL MARITIME ORGANIZATION - IMO

Specialized agency of the United Nations that is responsible for the safety and security of international shipping and preventing marine pollution by ships. IMO’s objectives are anchored with their slogan "Safe, secure, and efficient shipping on clean oceans". In 1948, IMO was conceived in a convention held in Geneva and first met in 1959. Located in the United Kingdom, it currently has 170 member states and three associate members.
