IPO LOCK-UP
A contractual caveat that forbids company insiders or large stockholders from selling any of their share, normally between 90 days to 180 days after an initial public offering. Once the lock-up period ends, most trading restrictions are lifted. Also called lock-up period. It aims to ensure the market is not flooded with too many supply of a company stock’s too quickly.
