IRS PUBLICATION 552 - RECORDKEEPING FOR INDIVIDUALS

Published by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), it suggests keeping accurate records to determine sources of income, monitor expenses, and back up information stated in the tax return. It does not explain the manner of record keeping.
