JUMBO LOAN
A mortgage with a loan amount that exceeds the conforming loan limits fixed by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO). The agency sets the conforming loan limits size annually. Also known as jumbo mortgage, it cannot be guaranteed, purchased, or securitized by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. These loans are mostly used for secondary and luxury homes.
