KAMIKAZE DEFENSE
A defense mechanism used by companies to prevent a being target of a hostile bid. It involves selling off major assets, acquiring unappealing assets, and increasing debt load or decreasing available cash. "Scorched death" tactic, "sale of crown jewels" strategy, and "fatman" maneuver are some Kamikaze defense strategies.
This term derived from the tactics of Japanese suicide pilots in World War II.
