KOREA INVESTMENT CORPORATION
Government-owned investment organization that administers the sovereign wealth fund of the Government of South Korea. It specializes in overseas investments. Formed by the Korea Investment Corporation Act in July 2005, it was initially created by receiving deposits of $17 billion from the Bank of Korea and $3 billion from the Korean Ministry of Strategy and Finance. KIC has around $55 billion in assets as of this year. Its main thrust is to improve the country’s sovereign wealth and to contribute in developing Korea’s financial industry.
