LADY MACBETH STRATEGY
A hostile takeover strategy whereas a third party (a company) poses as a "white knight" or an ally to gain the trust of the target and acquire information regarding the target company. Eventually, it will turn around and join forces with unfriendly bidders.
The strategy was named after Lady Macbeth, one of Shakespeare's most frightful and ambitious characters. She designed a clever way to kill her husband, the Scottish General to kill Scotland King Duncan. She would pretend as if a noble and virtuous supporter to gain the King’s trust.
