LAGGING INDICATOR

A measurable economic and financial-market gauge that tend to change after an economic shift or following a particular pattern or trend. Traders use this indicator to draw transaction signals or validate the strength of a trend. It confirms long-trends but don’t predict it. Unemployment rate, outstanding consumer loans and business loans, business spending and profits, book value of business inventories, unit labor costs, and consumer price index (CPI) are some of the major lagging indicators.
