LANCHESTER STRATEGY

A strategy named after Frederick William Lanchester, an English automobile and aeronautics pioneer who wrote about World War II war strategies, which was successfully applied in the business context in penetrating new markets. Lanchester published "Aviation in Warfare: The Dawn of the Fourth Arm" in 1975, the laws that govern the war strategy.

The said strategy was first introduced in Japan in 1950s and Japanese consultant Nobuo Taoka made this strategy popular in 1960s. In business, it attempts to find easiest markets to enter by choosing new and existing businesses and is used to capture market shares.
