LEAST SQUARES METHOD
A statistical method that is used to determine the curve or line that best represents the correspondence between two measurable quantities. The technique aims to specify an equation with particular parameters to observed data. This is widely used in regression analysis and estimation. Mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss has the earliest description of the least squares method in 1795.
