LEGAL MONOPOLY
A company or firm that operates as a monopoly under a government mandate. With a right granted by the government, a legal monopoly is an exclusive provider of a particular product or service nationwide or within a geographic area, at a regulated price. This can be independently run and government-regulated, or government run and regulated.
Also called statutory monopoly.
