LOCAL TAX
A tax assessed and charged by a local authority, such as a county or municipality, aside from state and federal taxes. It is usually collected in the form of property taxes, school taxes, and income taxes at times. Local taxes are used to fund wide range of civic services from garbage collection to sewer maintenance. The local tax rates may vary from one jurisdiction to another.
