LOCK PERIOD
Specified number of days, usually 30 or 60 days, by which the interest rate promised on a pending mortgage loan cannot be modified. Because mortgage interest rates can shift while looking for a home, borrowers who are waiting to close on a home can face apprehensions as to what the interest rate will be. The more expensive the house, the greater the impact the final interest will be in the monthly payment. It aids borrowers manage the risk the interest rates may increase above what they can and are willing to pay.
