MADRID STOCK EXCHANGE
Also known as Bolsa de Madrid, this is the largest and oldest securities market in Spain. Jose I Bonaparte attempted to build Spain's first stock exchange in Madrid but failed because Madrid was not a major business center at that time. On October 20, 1831, King Fernando VII founded the Madrid Stock Exchange, which also commenced its first trading day. Banks, railways, and iron and steel companies were the first traded securities.
