MARRIED FILING JOINTLY
A tax filing status for a couple that got married before the end of tax year. When filing jointly, couples can record their respective incomes, exemptions, and deductions on the same tax return. This is best applicable if only one spouse has a significant earning. However, filing jointly may be disadvantageous to couples if both spouses work, and their combined income and enumerated tax deductions are huge and very different.
