MATERIAL WEAKNESS
One or more of a company's internal controls is considered ineffective, supposedly this is to avoid financial statement irregularities. A deficiency in an internal control, which is thought to be a material weakness, could lead to misrepresentation of data in a firm’s financial statements. If not addressed properly, the company may face the risk of detrimenting all future information on earnings and expenses.
