MBA REFINANCE INDEX
A weekly measurement that forecasts mortgage activity and loan prepayments based on the submitted number of mortgage refinance applications. Conducted by Mortgage Bankers Association, the index is released every Wednesday. The number of refinance loans that has closed are not included in the index. Also, the report has the new weekly index number and percentage change from the previous week’s figures, as well as the index’s four-week moving average.
