INTERMARKET TRADING SYSTEM - ITS
An electronic computer system that connects the trading floors of all the main equity US exchanged. Essentially, the system allows any broker or market maker from any participating exchange to execute buy and/or sell orders at several exchanges whenever there is a better price quote available. Started in 1978, it has connections with huge national exchanges and smaller regional exchanges.
