MORTGAGE ALLOCATIONS
The process of settling mortgage-backed security in to-be-announced (TBA) trades. It requires the sell division of a TBA trade inform its buy portion counterpart of specific securities to be rendered into the trade no later than 3:00 p.m. EST and 48 hours before the set trade settlement date. Aside from that, every trade must be divided into $1 million lots, every lot can have no more than three pools. A 0.01% variance is permissible in every $1 million lot. Most participants in the TBA market have a software application that assists them with mortgage allocations.
