It was first established in 1982 as a self-regulatory organization in the U.S for the futures market. Its main functions include registration, compliance and arbitration. It fights fraud and abuse in the field of future markets by establishing severe registration requirements, stringent compliance rules, strong enforcement authority and real-time market surveillance.
