OFFICIAL COMMITTEE OF EQUITY SECURITY HOLDERS
This is usually a small group of the largest shareholders. They are formed to represent other shareholders all through the company’s bankruptcy trials. The official committee is usually composed of some of the largest shareholders who may have the most to gain or lose during the bankruptcy proceedings, hence would be the best proxy for the shareholders as a whole.
