They make loans in the Eurocurrency market when they accept deposits from foreign banks and other OBUs. Offshore Banking Units have multiplied around the globe since 1970s. They are in Asia, Europe, Middle East and the Caribbean. U.S. Offshore Banking Units are focused in the Cayman Islands, Bahamas, Singapore, Panama and Hongkong.
