SCORCHED EARTH POLICY
Scorched Earth Policy is a takeover policy whose purpose is to make target companies less appealing to hostile bidders. This is done by selling off assets, taking on high levels of debt, and participating and initiating in events that might hurt the company if it is bought off. Extreme cases of Scorched Earth Policy is like a suicide pill for the company.
