SPECIALIST SHORT SALE RATIO
Specialist short sale ratio is the ratio that shows the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) specialist’s sentiments compared to the market sentiment. This is done through the comparison of total number of shares sold short by specialists and the total number of shares sold short by market participants in the NYSE. The advantage of paying attention to the specialist short sale ratio is that it gives a different insight in the underlying market trends since specialists have extra information regarding trade activity.
