SPECIFIC SHARE IDENTIFICATION
Specific share identification is, as it name implies, the method of identifying which shares to be sold to gain the best tax treatment during sales of a holdings’ portion that was purchased on different prices over a course of different dates. Specific share identification means that the investors will provide special instructions to the executing brokerage and keep comprehensive records of cost basis per sale.
