SURINAME GUILDERS

Former currency of Suriname, which was replaced by the Suriname dollar in 2004. Every dollar replaced 1,000 Suriname guilders. The currency was made up of 100 cents and presented with the symbol ƒ or fl. The coins that used to represent fractions of one guilder was still in use as the same fraction of one Suriname dollar. This currency suffered from inflation problems, government overspending, tax increases, and currency devaluation.
