TATRA TIGER

Colloquial term for Slovakia, the central European country. It was named such after its economic growth was one of the highest in Europe in the first decade of the 21st century. After the nation separated from Czechoslovakia in 1993, it launched their significant economic reforms which ignited growth and it allowed the country to join the European Union in 2004. The phrase is derived from the Tatra mountain range straddling the border between Slovakia and Poland.
