TAX INDEXING
Adjusting various tax rates to fend off inflation and to avoid the likelihood of bracket creep before it occurs. It links taxes, wages, or other rates to an index to maintain the public’s purchasing power during inflation. It happens when inflation pushes incomes into higher tax brackets, resulting to higher income taxes but no increase in purchasing power.
