TAX YEAR
Time period for computing a particular tax return. Many companies simply refer to the calendar year as their tax year. Whenever a company starts or ends operations, they need to file a tax return over a period shorter than 12 months. During its normal operations, a firm may choose different dates for its tax year, as well as different fiscal years.
