Any investment, account, or plan which is either sheltered from taxation, tax-deferred, or has other types of tax benefits. It allows a taxpayer to reduce his tax burden. Some examples of tax-advantaged investments and plans include IRAs and qualified plans, annuities, municipal bonds, partnerships, and UITs.
