TAX-EXEMPT SECURITY
Security in which its interest, dividends, or gains are tax-free in federal, state, and local taxes. The most common form of tax-exempt security is the municipal bonds, referring to obligations of a state, territory, or municipality. For certain investors, US savings bond interest may also be tax-free in the federal level.
