TREASURY STOCK METHOD
Accounting method which factors in the net of shares possibly created by unexercised options and warrants. The method presumes the proceeds from an in-the-money option exercise are used in acquiring common shares in the market. To adhere with generally accepted accounting principles, the company must use this method in getting its diluted earnings per share.
