ADVANCE/DECLINE LINE – A/D
A technical indicator which plots the advance-decline index's alteration in value over a certain period of time. Every point on the chart is a result from the total difference of the number of advancing/declining issues which is added up to the result of the value from the previous period, as shown in the following formula:
(# of Advancing Stocks - # of Declining Stocks) + Previous Period's A/D Line Value = A/D Line
