ADVERTISING ALLOWANCE
A payment from a service provider or product manufacturer made to a retailer to spread out the word about the product. Requirements, such as approval of the advertising material or proof of its existence, may be established by the company before the retailer receives the allowance.
By providing assistance to the retailer in the cost for advertising, the advertising allowance of the company provides the retailer an incentive to carry the product.
