AUDIT COMMITTEE
An operating committee of the board of directors of a company which is in charge of overseeing financial disclosure and reporting. All of the United States publicly-traded companies must preserve a qualified audit committee if they wanted to be listed on a stock exchange. The committee members must be composed of independent outside directors, involving not less that one whose qualifications are of a financial expert.
