AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SERVICE - ATS
A banking service catered to customers which has both a particular and general meaning. On a general basis, it can denote any automatic funds transfer from customer accounts. For example, a transfer on a regular basis coming from a checking account in order to pay off a bank loan, or a monthly transfer which comes from a checking account towards a savings account.
More particularly, it denotes the overdraft protection given when an automatic transfer of funds occur from a savings account of a customer towards his or her checking account in case the funds is not enough to maintain a minimum balance or cover the unpaid checks. The customer deviates any overdraft fees and all of the hassle concerning the returned checks.
