AVAILABLE-FOR-SALE SECURITY
A equity or debt security which is bought with the intention of selling it before the its maturity or selling before a long period time in which it doesn't have a maturity. Accounting standards obligates that companies assort any investments in equity or debt securities when they are bought. The investments can be sorted as: available-for-sale, held for trading, or held for maturity.
