BACK STOP
The move of making a final option support or security in a securities providing for the unsubscribed part of shares. A firm will attempt and increase capital by means of an issuance and to make sure the amount acquired through the issue, the firm will get a back stop from an principal shareholder or underwriter to purchase any of the unsubscribed shares.
