BLUE-CHIP INDEX
Stock index trailing the shares of leading publicly traded firms. These are the shares of companies that are well-established, financially stable, and generate good returns for investors. Since the performance of shares and the overall economy are almost similar, the index is somewhat considered a measure of an industry’s (or region’s) economic strength.
