BONA VACANTIA
Situation in which a property is left without an apparent owner. Handling such properties vary from one jurisdiction to another. In most cases, the government holds the property that rightful owners or heirs may recover. But there are some instances in which the government serves as custodian for the property. If still unclaimed within a given time period, the ownership will be given to the government.
